Post-secondary graduates: are almost
completely filled. General applications from this website are no
longer being accepted from youth with this education level. Where
positions remain, interns will be specifically recruited.
High school graduates: are still
available and applications are being accepted through this
website.
Non-High School Graduates: are still
available and applications are being accepted through this
website.

Internships will roll out continuously throughout the course of the program which ends in December 2010 based on the needs of the host organizations and availability of interns.

Placements range in length from 3 months to 12 months, depending on the position.

Yes. If you have found an internship in your area for which you wish to be considered, please note this in your online or PDF application available at www.yeip.ca.

Yes. If you do not have a specific placement in mind, please complete our online or PDF application and you will be considered for placements in your area as they become available.

Due to the large number of internship placements approved and the number of interns who will be placed with organizations, individual postings will not be available for viewing on the website. For information about internships that are available in your area, please contact us directly (as above).

Once it is established that the basic application requirements have been met, applicants will be assessed based on qualifications, need and suitability to available positions.

We can help! There are job search centres in communities across the country, and we can assist you in finding one, where staff will be able to assist you in creating a résumé. There are also website resources that can provide some excellent information if you prefer to complete a résumé on your own. Each accepted applicant will be eligible to complete a maximum of one YEIP internship.

Yes. However, due to limited availability there is no guarantee that another offer will be made.

Interns will be employees of the YMCA of Greater Toronto or YWCA Canada and will be paid via biweekly direct deposit. There may be a lag of up to two weeks between the completed work period and the time funds are transferred. Pay rates will vary by placement.

The Youth Eco Internship Program is open to all youth between the ages of 15 to 30, regardless of their educational status.

No, the majority of the internship positions will be focused on the environment but not all of them.

No, Youth Eco Internships cannot be used as part of an educational
program, ie: to gain academic credits, co-op
placements/experiences, work terms.
