When do internships start and end?

Internships will roll out continuously throughout the course of the program which ends in December 2010 based on the needs of the host organizations and availability of interns.

Once it is established that the basic application requirements have been met, applicants will be assessed based on qualifications, need and suitability to available positions.

Each accepted applicant will be eligible to complete a maximum of one YEIP internship.

Interns will be employees of the YMCA of Greater Toronto or YWCA Canada and will be paid via biweekly direct deposit. There may be a lag of up to two weeks between the completed work period and the time funds are transferred. Pay rates will vary by placement.

The Youth Eco Internship Program is open to all youth between the ages of 15 to 30, regardless of their educational status.

 Are all the internship positions focused on the environment?

No, the majority of the internship positions will be focused on the environment but not all of them.

Can I get a Youth Eco Internship to complete my co-op placement?
No, Youth Eco Internships cannot be used as part of an educational program, ie: to gain academic credits, co-op placements/experiences, work terms.
