
- A host organization must be non-profit, charitable, cooperative
and/or voluntary
- Internships that involve environmentally focused work will be
given priority
- A host organization must have (and provide proof of)
appropriate and adequate insurance and comply with all applicable
legislation related to hosting the intern
- A host organization must maintain acceptable record keeping,
allowing the YMCA and YWCA Canada to audit and monitor the progress
of the internship
- The officers of a host organization must not be immediate
family members of the intern being hosted
- Host organizations must operate from a commercially
leased/owned space where the intern will have an appropriate work
area
- Hosts must have a minimum of one full-time staff person who
will be responsible for the supervision and mentorship of the
intern during their learning internship
- Youth Eco Internships cannot be used as part of an educational
program, ie: to gain academic credits, co-op
placements/experiences, work terms
